Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Matias Santistevan #32899 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 10K Distance: 6.2 miles

Strong Start Carries Young Runner to Podium Finish Matias Santistevan crossed in 49:31, good for 152nd overall and 107th among men in a field of 3,071 and second in the Male 14 & Under division. That result reflects a race built on an aggressive opening mile at 6:52 min/mile, the fastest mile he ran all day, before cumulative pace settled back toward 8:00 min/mile by the finish. The middle and closing miles brought steady give-back, with per-mile splits drifting from the low 7:00s into the high 8:00s, yet his overall pace of 7:59 min/mile stayed remarkably consistent for a runner his age. Racing in Boulder, sitting above 5,000 feet, adds context to that early pace and the discipline required to hold it together over the closing miles.
