Strong Front-Runner Finish in the 10K Glen Shumaker crossed the line in 35:23, placing 5th overall and 5th among men in the 2026 Boulderthon 10K, out of a field of 3,071. He built an early cushion through the opening miles before easing back over the closing stretch. His first three miles were his strongest, covering that stretch in 15:57 a 5:19 per-mile pace that held the race's early gap tight. The fourth mile slowed to 6:04, and after a rebound to 5:33 in mile five, the final mile eased to 6:35 as he brought it home. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Shumaker's pacing pattern of a fast start followed by a controlled close speaks to solid course management; a touch more evenness between miles three and four could sharpen the overall time next time out.
