Strong Start Fades Late in Steady 10K Finish Robert Paton, 44, of Fort Collins, completed the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 54:46, an 8:50 min/mile pace. That mark sits between his two most recent trips over this distance at the race well off his 45:37 breakout in 2025, but ahead of his 55:44 clocking in 2024. Paton's race followed a fast-to-steady arc: he opened with back-to-back miles at 7:56 and 7:58, the quickest running of his day, before easing through the middle miles in the 8:398:53 range. The final mile slowed to 10:43, pulling his overall pace down from 7:57 at the halfway point to 8:50 at the line. With Boulder sitting above 5,000 feet, that early pace made for a solid foundation, even as the closing stretch cost him some ground on his 2025 result.
