Fast Start Cools Off Late in the 10K Kevyn Flores completed the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 1:16:10. He built an even, brisk pace through the opening miles before easing off notably over the second half of the race, with per-mile times climbing from the 10-11 minute range into the 13-14 minute range as the finish neared. Flores's strongest stretch came in the first three miles, covering that distance in 31:47 for a pace of roughly 10:35 per mile well ahead of his overall 12:17 per mile average. That opening effort, run at altitude in a city sitting more than 5,000 feet above sea level, set a high bar that the closing miles didn't match. A touch more even pacing across the back half could help him carry that early rhythm all the way to the Pearl Street Mall finish next time.
