Strong Fifth Mile Anchors a Steady 10K Alex Banegas finished the 10K in 1:01:51, an overall pace of 9:58 per mile. His race built steadily through the first three miles (10:06, 10:08, 10:26) before he found his rhythm, cutting to 9:57 in mile four and surging to 9:05 in mile five his fastest mile of the day before easing to 10:21 over the final stretch to the Pearl Street Mall finish. That mid-race surge stood out against an otherwise even effort, showing solid pacing control across the distance. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, holding sub-10:00 pace for three of six miles reflects well-managed effort management worth building on for future 10Ks.
