Strong Early Pace Fades Late in Steady 10K Run Travis Erwin finished the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 53:03, an average pace of 8:33 per mile. He built an early rhythm, opening with an 8:36 first mile before dropping to 8:05 for his fastest mile of the race. From there he held remarkably steady, running miles three through five between 8:17 and 8:21, showing strong control through the race's midsection before easing in the final mile. Running at over 5,000 feet of elevation, Erwin's consistency through the middle miles stands out as the highlight of his effort a stretch where his per-mile pace barely varied by more than a few seconds. That steadiness through miles two to five reflects well-managed effort in Boulder's thinner air, even as the pace eased slightly over the closing mile.
