Strong Finish Kick Caps a Steady 10K Ken Hashimoto crossed the line in 53:05, good for 268th overall and 179th among men in a field of 3,071. His pace tightened steadily through the race, dropping from 9:06 in the opening mile to 8:22 by mile four, before a 7:39 fifth mile marked his fastest stretch of the day. A final mile at 9:15 closed out the effort as he came home along the Pearl Street Mall. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Hashimoto's ability to surge in the middle miles stands out, and there's room to experiment with holding that mile-five rhythm a bit longer into the finish next time.
