Steady Early Miles Carry Strong 10K Pace Before Late Slowdown Courtney Barch finished the 10K in 1:02:53, an overall pace of 10:08 per mile. Her first five miles were remarkably even, holding between 9:43 and 9:48 each, before a final mile that eased to 11:57 as she came into the finish. That opening stretch through five miles was the highlight of her race, a tight, consistent pace that held steady mile after mile. Given that Boulder sits at over 5,000 feet of elevation, maintaining that rhythm through the middle miles reflects well on her pacing execution. A touch more left in reserve for that final mile could help her close as strongly as she started.
