Fast Start Fuels Top-Five 10K Finish Theodorakis Medrano crossed the line in 33:51, good for 4th overall and 4th among men in a field of 3,071. He built an early cushion with a 4:45 opening mile, the fastest stretch of his race, before easing through the middle miles in the 5:13-5:20 range. The final mile ticked up to 6:20 as the effort caught up with him, but the earlier pace bank held his overall position steady through the finish. Running this 10K at Boulder's elevation of over 5,000 feet, Medrano's early speed set the tone for a strong top-five showing. A touch more evenness between the first and final miles could help him close as strongly as he opens next time out.
