Steady Start Gives Way to a Gritty Finish Matthew Pfauth, 31, of Fort Collins, completed the 10K at the 2026 Boulderthon in 1:04:39, an overall pace of 10:25 per mile. He opened with his quickest work of the day, covering the first two miles in 9:39 and 9:27, then settled into a steadier rhythm as the back half of the course wore on, closing with splits in the 10:3911:17 range. Racing at altitude in Boulder, sitting more than 5,000 feet above sea level, Pfauth's early pace stood out as the strongest mile-plus stretch of his race. With his foundation already in place from a solid opening 5K, he might look to carry that early rhythm a bit further into the second half in future starts.
