Fast Start Gives Way to a Steady Grind George Mayorga completed the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 1:03:26, an overall pace of 10:14 per mile. He opened strong, covering the first mile in 8:33 before easing through the middle miles, with splits gradually lengthening to the 10:3010:59 range across miles four and five. The final mile slowed further, closing out a race that showed a clear pattern of early speed giving way to a measured, controlled finish. That opening mile stood as the fastest sustained stretch of his race, run well under his overall pace. Mayorga's effort played out at Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, a factor every runner on the course contends with, before he closed out his 10K on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder.
