Big Time Drop Fuels Top-10% Finish Chris Branecky crossed the 5K finish in 23:33, placing 170th overall and 132nd among men in a field of 2,677 a result inside the top 10 percent. That mark is a sharp improvement over his 2025 Boulderthon 5K, when he finished in 27:27, shaving nearly four minutes off his time this year. The race unfolded in three distinct phases: a solid opening mile at 7:38, a strong surge through mile two at 6:25 his fastest mile of the race and a settling third mile at 8:33 that still closed out the effort well under last year's pace. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Branecky's negative-split middle mile stands out as the highlight of an efficiently paced race.
