Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Israel Morales #41131 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Middle Mile Fuels Steady 5K Finish Israel Morales, 27, of Thornton, CO, completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 28:43, an overall pace of 9:15 per mile. He placed 461st out of the field of 2,677. Morales opened with a 9:28 first mile, then surged to a 7:53 second mile his fastest stretch of the race before easing to a 10:18 close. That middle-mile push shows real capability at pace once he found rhythm early on. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet adds a layer of difficulty to any effort at this distance, and his finish through downtown Boulder, capped off on the Pearl Street Mall, reflects a race with a clear peak. A more even split between miles two and three could help sustain that faster gear longer next time.
