Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Ned Mathers #40835 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Steady Effort Secures Another Podium Finish Ned Mathers crossed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K line in 33:01, finishing second in the M75+ division for the second consecutive year. That result comes in just seven seconds slower than his 32:54 finish at the same race last year, when he also placed second in his division a remarkably consistent performance across the two editions. The race unfolded with an early pace before settling into its strongest stretch: Mathers's second mile was his fastest of the day at 9:25, a notable pickup from his opening mile of 10:18. The final mile slowed to 11:58, closing out the effort at altitude in downtown Boulder. With two straight runner-up finishes in his age group, Mathers might consider whether a touch more even pacing across the final stretch could help him close the gap even further next year.
