Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Mike Feilbach #41843 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Middle Mile Fuels Third Straight Sub-21 5K Mike Feilbach crossed in 20:44, good for 95th overall and 71st among men in a field of 2,677. That's a shade off his 20:37 from last year's Boulderthon but well ahead of his 21:29 finish two years ago, keeping him in a tight three-year band under 21 minutes. The race unfolded in three distinct phases: a 6:49 opening mile, a sharp surge to 5:48 for mile two his fastest mile of the day and a 7:24 closing mile that pulled his overall pace back to 6:41 per mile. That middle-mile burst was the difference-maker, briefly pushing him into the 80s overall before the final stretch settled his placing. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, holding that early surge may be worth revisiting for an even split next time out.
