Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Simon Zarzecki #41102 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Young Runner Surges to a Sub-6:35 Pace and a Division Win Simon Zarzecki finished in 20:25, placing 89th overall out of the field of 2,677 and 66th among men a result strong enough to claim first in the 14 & Under age group. His race built steadily: a 6:12 opening mile gave way to a swift 5:50 second mile, before easing to 7:36 over the final stretch to the finish on the Pearl Street Mall. That second mile was the standout of the day, run at altitude in Boulder, which sits above 5,000 feet a notable pace given the conditions. With his early speed and a clear command of the front half of the course, Simon has a strong foundation to build on; working to hold that middle-mile intensity through the closing stretch could be a rewarding next step.
