A Strong Middle Mile Powers a Solid 5K Finish Simon Sisco crossed the line in 29:22, good for an average pace of 9:28 per mile. His race unfolded unevenly: an opening mile of 9:47 gave way to a sharp surge through mile two, covered in 7:27, before a final mile of 11:02 brought him home. That second mile stood out as the fastest stretch of his race, showing a real gear change mid-race even as the closing mile pulled his overall pace back down. Racing at over 5,000 feet of elevation, Sisco's ability to find that faster middle mile is a solid marker to build from. Looking ahead, working on sustaining that mile-two rhythm deeper into the race could smooth out the final stretch and bring his overall pace closer to his best split.
