Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Alyssa Bernal #40303 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Start Fades Late but Secures a Top-10% Finish Alyssa Bernal crossed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 24:48, an 8:00/mile pace that placed her 233rd overall and 55th among women in a field of 2,677. Her race built momentum before easing off: a 7:58 opening mile gave way to a sharp 6:54 second mile, her fastest stretch of the race, before a 9:07 third mile closed things out. That pattern suggests real speed in reserve worth exploring whether a steadier, more even pace across all three miles could help her hold that mid-race form through the finish. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet adds context to that late fade, and her performance remains a solid showing within the top 10 percent of the field.
