Strong Middle Mile Powers a Steady 5K Finish Abigail Quinonez completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 36:50. Her race built through a quick opening mile, surged in the middle, then eased slightly to the finish, showing a runner who found her rhythm mid-race rather than fading late. Her second mile was the standout stretch, clocked at 10:27, nearly a minute and a half faster than her opening mile and well ahead of her overall pace of 11:53 per mile. That surge reflects a runner capable of strong sustained efforts once settled in. With Boulder sitting above 5,000 feet, that mid-race pace stands out even more.
