Strong Middle Mile Powers a Steady 5K Finish Curtis Vigness completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 29:22, an overall pace of 9:28 per mile. His race built momentum through the middle mile, opening in 9:50, before finding his rhythm. That second mile was the clear highlight, clocking 8:07, well under his overall pace and the fastest stretch of his race. He eased slightly in the final mile, closing in 10:22 to finish the 5K in downtown Boulder, a city sitting at more than 5,000 feet of elevation. Given that altitude, his negative split into the middle mile stands out as the sharpest segment of his run. There's room to explore holding that faster middle-mile rhythm deeper into the final stretch next time out.
