Steady Middle Mile Powers a Solid 5K Finish Nicole Walters completed her 5K in 1:01:04, finishing between her two previous Boulderthon 5K efforts of 59:49 and 1:12:00. The result reflects a race that started strong, found its best rhythm mid-course, and finished with a bit more effort in the closing stretch. Her opening mile came in at 19:38, before she picked up the pace significantly on the second mile, covering it in 17:39 her fastest mile of the day. The final mile slowed to 22:05, closing out the race. That middle-mile surge stands out as the highlight of her run. Walters crossed the finish line on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting at over 5,000 feet of elevation, adding context to every stride covered on race day.
