Strong Middle Mile Powers Steady 5K Finish Alexandra Sandberg completed the 5K in 33:52, an average pace of 10:55 per mile. She opened with a 10:34 first mile, surged to a 9:16 second mile, then eased to 12:45 over the closing stretch to the Pearl Street Mall finish. That second mile stood out as her fastest of the race, a solid push through the middle of the course. Running at over 5,000 feet of elevation in Boulder, Sandberg's pacing shows a runner capable of strong surges worth considering a more even split next time to carry that mile-two energy through the finish.
