Strong Start Fuels Top 4% Finish Matt Howard crossed the line in 20:49, placing 96th overall and 72nd among men out of the field of 2,677 in the 2026 Boulderthon 5K. That result put him inside the top 10% of the entire field. Howard opened with a 6:38 first mile, then surged to a 5:55 second mile his fastest of the race before easing to a 7:29 close over the final stretch. That middle mile was the clear highlight, showing a strong gear shift through the race's midpoint. Racing at Boulder's altitude, over 5,000 feet, Howard might look to sustain that second-mile rhythm a bit longer next time for an even stronger finish.
