A Strong Middle Mile Powers a Solid 5K Finish Jessie Douglas completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 28:54. Her race unfolded in three distinct phases: an opening mile of 9:25, a strong surge through the second mile at 8:04, and a final mile that eased to 10:22 as she closed out the course in downtown Boulder. That second mile stood out as the fastest stretch of her race, showing a real gear shift once she settled in. With the finish on the Pearl Street Mall coming after a slower closing mile, there may be room to work on sustaining that mid-race pace through to the line in future 5Ks. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, the effort reflects solid pacing instincts worth building on.
