Strong Start Fuels Solid 5K Finish Troy Rininger finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 24:24, an average pace of 7:52 per mile. Rininger's early miles carried the race: a 7:22 opening mile quickened to 6:46 through mile two, dropping his cumulative pace to 7:03 per mile at the halfway point. That second mile stood as his strongest stretch of the day. The closing mile slowed to 9:18, pulling his overall pace back up to 7:48 by the finish. With the race starting and finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, sitting above 5,000 feet, Rininger's early pace reflects a well-managed adjustment to the altitude before the late fade. Building a touch more strength into that final mile could help him close races at the pace he opens them.
