A Strong Middle Mile Fuels a Steady 5K Finish Delaney Porter finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 33:33, an overall pace of 10:49 per mile. Her race unfolded in three distinct phases: an opening mile at 11:09, a sharp pickup to 9:31 for mile two, then a settling back to 11:39 to close things out, a shape that shows a runner who found rhythm mid-race before easing through the final stretch. That second mile stands out as the highlight of her day, nearly a minute and a half faster than her closing mile and the fastest stretch of her race. Running at over 5,000 feet of elevation in Boulder, Porter's ability to surge in the middle mile speaks well of her pacing instincts. Going forward, working on sustaining that middle-mile intensity through the final mile could help smooth out the overall effort even further.
