Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Jack Linehan #40165 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Division Win Anchors a Sharp, Front-Loaded 5K Jack Linehan crossed the line in 17:52, good for 35th overall and 28th among men in a field of 2,677 and first in the M35-39 division. That result reflects a race built on a fast start: his opening mile clocked 5:29, then he surged to a 5:10 second mile, his quickest stretch of the day, before easing to 6:21 over the closing mile as the cumulative pace settled to 5:39 min/mile. That second-mile split stands out as the highlight of the race, a notable gear shift mid-course. With the finish landing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, sitting above 5,000 feet, Linehan's pacing pattern a controlled build followed by a strong hold offers a small area to consider for even pacing across the final mile next time out.
