Strong Start Fades Late in the Final Mile Nimi Sherpa completed the 5K in 47:25. Her race opened briskly with a 13:20 opening mile, holding a 13:44 pace through two miles before the final stretch slowed considerably, closing in 18:40 to finish with an overall pace of 15:17 per mile. Running at Boulder's elevation of over 5,000 feet, Sherpa's opening mile stood out as her strongest stretch of the day, nearly two minutes faster than her closing mile. That early pace reflects solid pacing instincts worth building on, while the final mile offers a clear opportunity to work on sustaining effort across the full distance in future races at altitude.
