Steady Start Fuels a Strong Middle Mile Emilia Garcia Shore finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 33:26, covering the 3.1-mile course through downtown Boulder. Her race unfolded in three distinct chapters: an opening mile at 10:30, a notably quicker second mile at 9:34, and a closing mile that eased back to 12:01. That middle stretch stood out as her fastest of the day, showing a solid gear shift once she settled in. Racing at Boulder's elevation of over 5,000 feet, Garcia Shore's pacing pattern reflects the demands of the altitude on a course that finishes on the historic Pearl Street Mall. Building on that strong second mile could be a useful focus for future races.
