Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Julian Delgado Candela #40682 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Middle Mile Powers a Solid 5K Finish Julian Delgado Candela completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 26:49. His race unfolded unevenly: an opening mile of 8:57 gave way to a much stronger second mile at 7:14, before a third mile of 9:41 closed things out. That middle mile stands as the clear highlight of his race, showing a solid gear shift after settling in. Racing through downtown Boulder, a city sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation, Julian navigated the field of 2,677 participants toward a finish on the historic Pearl Street Mall. With the fast middle mile already showing his capability, an option going forward could be working on a more even pacing strategy to sustain that speed through the final stretch.
