Steady Effort Through the Third Mile Slowdown Aasini Sivakumar completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 1:01:43. She opened with an 18:24 first mile, quickened to a 17:38 second mile, then eased pace over the closing mile to finish. Her second mile was the strongest stretch of the race, showing the most efficient running of her day. Finishing this 5K in downtown Boulder, at over 5,000 feet of elevation, meant covering the distance with less oxygen available than at sea level. With that middle-mile pace as a benchmark, there's room to explore holding closer to that effort across the full 5K next time.
