Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Cheryl Albert #41078 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

A Strong Third-Place Age-Group Finish in Boulder Cheryl Albert crossed the 5K finish line in 33:39, good for third place in the F70-74 division at the 2026 Boulderthon. Her overall pace settled at 10:51 per mile across the field of 2,677 entrants. Albert's race built momentum through the middle of the course, her second mile the standout stretch at 9:41, a clear step up from her opening mile of 10:43. That surge carried her through the race's fastest cumulative pace before the final mile eased to 11:58. With the finish landing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation, Albert's ability to find a quicker gear mid-race stands out as the highlight of her effort. A more even final mile could be a useful focus for future 5Ks.
