Steady Start Gives Way to a Tougher Final Mile Anusha Varhala completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 1:01:50. She opened with an 18:21 first mile, nearly matched it in the second at 18:36, then eased into a 22:50 final mile as the cumulative pace settled to 19:55 per mile by the finish. The opening two miles were the strongest stretch of her race, holding just above 18:20-18:30 pace before the effort cost her ground late. Racing through Boulder, which sits above 5,000 feet, adds a physical layer to any pacing plan, and her early miles showed she handled that well before the finish demanded more.
