Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Griffin Nelson #40415 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles
Strong Middle Mile Fuels Steady 5K Finish Griffin Nelson completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 34:01. His race featured a quick pickup through the second mile, clocked at 9:12, before easing back to a 12:46 close over the final stretch. That middle mile stood out as his fastest of the race, a solid surge after a 10:51 opening mile. Finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, Nelson capped his run in a city sitting over 5,000 feet of elevation, adding extra weight to that strong second-mile split. Building a touch more evenly paced third mile could help him carry that middle-mile strength through to the finish next time out.
