That first mile stands out as the strongest stretch of his race, run nearly two minutes faster than his next split. With Boulder sitting at over 5,000 feet of elevation, maintaining that early rhythm across the full distance is a tall order. Erik might consider pacing the opening mile slightly more conservatively in future 5Ks to help preserve that strong effort through the finish.
