Steady Start Fades Into a Determined Finish Rylee Romero completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 38:51. Her race unfolded from a brisk opening mile of 11:44 her fastest stretch of the day before easing to 12:23 for mile two and 13:31 for the final mile, a gradual softening of pace across the distance. Boulders elevation, over 5,000 feet, adds context to any effort on foot here, and Romeros 5K joined every distance in finishing along the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder. Looking ahead, she might work on sustaining her early pace deeper into the back half of a race.
