Strong Middle Mile Powers a Steady 5K Finish Alexa Cataldo, 37, of Boulder, completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 31:55. Her race built through a strong second mile before settling in for the close: she opened in 10:37, surged to 9:17 for mile two, then eased to 10:46 over the final stretch, finishing with an overall pace of 10:17 per mile. That middle mile stood out as the fastest stretch of her race, a solid push through the heart of the course. Racing at altitudeBoulder sits above 5,000 feetshe showed good control in the final mile, holding her effort together rather than fading further. A worthwhile focus going forward: finding a way to carry that second-mile strength closer to the finish line on the Pearl Street Mall.
