Strong Start Fades Late in the 5K Ryan Hermance finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 26:04. This was slower than his 2025 Boulderthon 5K, where he ran 21:07. Hermance opened with a brisk 7:42 first mile, then quickened slightly to 7:14 for mile two, reaching the 2-mile mark in 14:55. The final mile slowed considerably, coming in at 10:07 and pulling his overall pace to 8:24 min/mile. That opening two-mile stretch, covered at roughly 7:28 min/mile pace, stands as the strongest portion of his race. Given the pace management through halfway, a focus on sustaining that early rhythm through the closing mile could help even out the effort next time out.
