Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Douglas Dechand #40470 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Middle Mile Fuels Solid 5K Finish Douglas Dechand completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 23:35, finishing 173rd overall out of a field of 2,677 in Boulder, Colorado. His race built momentum through the middle of the course, dropping from a 7:30 opening mile to a 6:40 second mile before settling into an 8:44 close. That second mile stood out as his fastest stretch of the day, a solid surge given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet. Every distance in the Boulderthon finishes on the historic Pearl Street Mall, and Dechand's steady pacing across the field brought him home for a well-rounded effort. Maintaining more of that middle-mile intensity into the final stretch could offer an interesting focus for his next race.
