Hanson opened with a 6:51 first mile, then surged to a 6:00 second mile his fastest stretch of the race before easing to a 7:11 close. That middle mile pulled his cumulative pace down to 6:25 before settling to 6:40 at the finish. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Hanson's ability to accelerate mid-race stands out as the highlight of his effort.
