Strong Split Finish Powers a Personal Best Sarah Wills, 28, of Denver finished the half marathon in 1:23:34, placing 61st overall (10th woman) in a field of 7,223. Thats more than a minute faster than her 1:24:50 half marathon finish at the same race last year. Her pace held remarkably steady through the middle miles, hovering between 6:10 and 6:23 per mile, before a brief dip near miles 811 as split times crept into the 6:30s and 6:40s. She answered with her strongest stretch of the day over miles 1213, averaging roughly 6:15 per mile to close out the race. That surge came on the newly redesigned 2026 half course, which cut net elevation gain nearly in half to 203 feet a shift that appears to have suited her finishing kick well.
