Strong Early Pace Carries a Steady Marathon Finish Dean Dominguez completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 3:43:19, an 8:31 min/mile pace, moving from a 2025 Half Marathon effort at a 7:02 min/mile pace. The marathon distance demands a different pacing strategy, and Dominguez's race reflected that: he opened with a strong first 10 miles averaging around 7:24 min/mile, then settled into a more measured rhythm through the middle miles before easing further over the closing stretch as fatigue naturally set in. His most notable stretch came in the first 10 miles, where he ran consistently in the 7:177:57 range, showing well-controlled effort out of downtown Boulder. Finishing on the Pearl Street Mall, Dominguez capped a race run at over 5,000 feet of elevation. Given the strength of his early pace, he may consider a slightly more conservative start in future marathons to help sustain speed deeper into the race.
