Strong Middle Mile Powers Solid 5K Finish Trina Ruhland finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 27:36, an 8:54/mile pace. Her race built momentum early: after a 9:13 opening mile, she surged to 8:22 for mile two before settling to 9:05 over the closing stretch. That second mile stood out as her fastest of the race, offsetting a slower finish and keeping her overall pace under 9:00/mile. Racing in her home city of Boulder, sitting above 5,000 feet, Ruhland managed the elevation with a well-paced middle mile that runners often find the hardest to execute cleanly. A touch more evenness between miles one and three could help her carry that second-mile strength across the full distance next time.
