Strong Middle Mile Fuels a Solid 5K Finish Claire Rothschild finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 31:18. Her race unfolded in three distinct phases: a steady opening mile at 9:53, a notably faster second mile at 8:10, and a final mile that eased back to 12:23 as she carried her effort to the finish on the Pearl Street Mall. That second mile stands out as the highlight of her race nearly two minutes quicker than her opening pace and the fastest stretch of her day. Finishing downtown in Boulder, a city sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation, adds context to the overall effort. Should she look to build on this result, working toward a more even pace across the final mile could help her carry that strong middle-mile speed all the way to the line.
