Steady Start Fades Late in Boulder's Thin Air Shashank Pant finished the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 56:43, placing 267th among men. That's a step back from his 54:33 showing in the same event last year, when he ran nearly 25 seconds per mile faster and cracked the top 15% of finishers. The race opened well, with Pant clicking off his first two miles at 8:25-8:28 pace, his fastest one-mile stretch of the day. From there, each successive mile slowed slightly, bottoming out with a 10:38 final mile as fatigue set in. Racing in Boulder, sitting above 5,000 feet, adds a layer of difficulty to any pacing plan, and holding that early rhythm a bit longer could help even out the back half next time.
