Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Marissa Davey #40021 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Middle Mile Powers Denver Runner's 5K Marissa Davey finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 33:19. Her race built from a measured opening mile of 11:22 into a much stronger second mile at 9:31, before easing back to 11:12 over the closing stretch a pattern of a cautious start, a strong surge, and a controlled finish. That middle mile stands out as the fastest stretch of her race, nearly two minutes quicker per mile than her opening pace. Completing a 5K at Boulder's elevation of over 5,000 feet adds context to the effort behind that surge. With a steadier pace through the first and third miles, Davey could look to carry more of that middle-mile strength across the full distance in future races.
