Strong Start Fuels a Top-2% Marathon Finish Nick Keany finished in 3:18:07, placing 49th overall and 43rd among men in a field of 3,305. He opened with a brisk 6:49 first mile and held a steady rhythm through the first half, reaching 13 miles in 1:32:17 (7:05/mile average), a pace he sustained with mile splits mostly in the 6:447:28 range. The second half brought a gradual fade, with per-mile pace slipping into the 7:30s and eventually the 8:00s and 9:00s by mile 22. That mile, covered in 9:36, fell near the course's lululemon Power-Up Zone at roughly mile 22.5. Even with that late slowdown, Keany closed with a 8:23 final mile at altitude Boulder sits above 5,000 feet before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall.
