Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Kennett Peterson #40767 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Start Fades Into a Division-Winning Finish Kennett Peterson crossed the 5K in 16:48, placing 24th overall and 20th among men in a field of 2,677 good enough for the win in the 40-44 age division. That overall finish put him in the top 10% of the entire field, a strong showing on Boulder's downtown course. Peterson's race built quickly, opening with a 5:22 first mile before surging to a 4:54 second mile, his fastest stretch of the day. The final mile eased to 5:48 as he carried it home to the finish. With the early pace as the highlight, dialing back the opening mile slightly could allow for a more even negative-split effort in future 5Ks, though the overall execution here was clearly effective.
