Strong Finishing Kick Powers a Top-10% Marathon Result Broderick Schmidt crossed the line in 3:47:14, good for 212th overall and 176th among men in a field of 3,305. Schmidt's cumulative pace held steady in the high 8:40s through the middle miles, dipping only briefly near mile 14. From mile 20 onward, though, he found another gear: miles 24 through 26 clocked in at 7:41, 7:40, and 6:55, pulling his overall pace down to 8:41/mile by the finish his fastest closing stretch of the race. That surge came just past the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5, where he was still holding an 8:13 pace before accelerating further. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, that late negative split stands out as the highlight of an evenly run marathon.
