Strong Early Rhythm Carries a Steady Marathon Effort Mercedes Krenz finished the Boulderthon Marathon in 3:42:25, placing 174th overall and 25th among women in a field of 3,305. Krenz opened briskly with a 10:18 first mile, then settled into a consistent rhythm, holding a cumulative pace between 11:20 and 11:40 per mile through mile 12 the most even stretch of her race. That effort, sustained over nearly a dozen miles at Boulder's altitude above 5,000 feet, showed strong pacing control through the race's midsection.
